Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura in Pregnancy

Abstract
Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura is a rare complication of pregnancy. Authors presented a case of I.T.P. in pregnancy which was found after repeat C-section.
¢¥In the postoperative period, transfusion of 7 pints of whole blood, and 500mg of Solucortef in I000cc of 5% D/W- were required to maintain blood¢¥ pressure within satisfactory. 9evels. But abdominal distension was increased gradually and continuous oozing occured from incision site of the skin.
On exploratory laparotomy, about 3000cc of fresh blood and blood clots were found in the abdominal cavity and continuous oozing from C-section site of the lower segment, diffuse blood infiltration in the bladder wall. Subtotal hysterectomy was performed because of uncontrolled bleeding from C-section site.
On postoperative 8th day, under the impression of the suppurative hemoperitoneuni, re-explolaparotomy was decided ¢¥again. She was treated with transfusion of the 28 pints of fresh and whole blood, prednisolone and antibiotics.
The literature have been reviewed on this subject.
